In situ deformation characterization of density-graded foams in quasi-static and impact loading conditions

چکیده
• Full-field deformation response of density-graded foams is investigated by DIC. Effects density gradient are in-situ strain/stress measurements. Mechanisms associated with formation and propagation stress wave discussed. Double shock mechanism observed for graded negative gradients. Positive gradients show a unidirectional (single) compaction wave. Digital image correlation utilized to characterize strain fields developed within the layers multilayered foam structures subjected uniaxial quasi-static dynamic compression. Three-layered fabricated from rigid polyurethane nominal densities 160, 240, 320 kg/m 3 loading. Sample continues all upon reflection distal end sample. A completely oriented towards impact face. detailed full-field analysis performed. samples'

In situ measurement of articular cartilage deformation in intact femoropatellar joints under static loading.
The deformational behavior of articular cartilage has been investigated in confined and unconfined compression experiments and indentation tests, but to date there exist no reliable data on the in situ deformation of the cartilage during static loading. The objective of the current study was to perform a systematic study into cartilage compression of intact human femoro-patellar joints under sh...

In-situ ultrasonic monitoring of crack growth under static and dynamic loading conditions [5767-1]
Successful in-situ monitoring of crack initiation and growth is a necessary prerequisite for applying ultrasonic methods to structural health monitoring. For conventional ultrasonic testing methods, a focused beam may be used to directly image the crack tip; however, this method is difficult to apply during fatigue testing because of access limitations and couplant contamination issues. However...
